The Living Sacrifice: Romans 12:1-2

A. ENABLED with the Truth, v1
1. “by the mercies of God… a living sacrifice”
a. salvation by grace through faith
b. we are alive because of Christ's cross
c. no dead sacrifices at the temple

B. EMPOWERED by the Truth, v1
1. “present your bodies”
a. priesthood of believers, 1 Pet 2:5
b. priesthood of Christ, Heb 9:11-15

C. ENCOURAGED through the Truth, v1
1. “holy, acceptable to God”
a. cleansed (purified) conscience, Heb 9:14
b. new creation in Christ, 2 Cor 5:17

D. EDIFIED in the Truth, v2
1. “do not be conformed to the world”
a. all that is in the world, 1 Jn 2:16
b. answer to not conforming is being transformed
2. “be transformed by the renewing of your mind”
a. renewed in knowledge, Col 3:9-10

E. ENDEAVOR to Apply the Truth
1. RESOLVE, in Christ, to live by those truths revealed
a. Keep your eyes on Christ
b. Don't seek to have everything changed at once
2. REJOICE in Christ's grace & mercy
a. Exalt Christ, not your flesh
b. Extol the cross, not your works
c. Exercise caution in how your sacrifice appears to others.
